A pallet of Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom guitars have been stolen

Disaster has struck for 13 prospective owners of the new Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom. A shipment of these guitars was stolen in the US, valued at $95,000 USD.

The launch of the Adam Jones 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom made news all over the globe last week. Understandably, this limited-edition axe is hot property, which makes it all the more heartbreaking that 13 of these special Silverbursts have been stolen.

The guitars were stolen from a Sweetwater truck in Whiteland, Indiana, which was on the way to Sweetwater HQ in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The street value of this stolen shipment? Close to $95,000 USD.

Sweetwater’s Phil Rich said, “Somehow out of a truck full of guitars, this one pallet was singled out and stolen at a truck stop. Totalling close to $95,000 in guitars, we feel this person/s knew exactly what to look for and when.”

To assist in the search for the guitars Gibson has published the serial numbers of the stolen guitars (see below).

This model has some distinguishing features that make it conspicuous, including custom capacitors, a DiMarzio volume pot and a hand-wound Seymour Duncan Distortion bridge pickup. Even the mirror that Jones attaches to his headstock is replicated.
