Angela Lansbury, star of ‘Murder, She Wrote’ dies aged 96

British actress, Angela Lansbury, renowned for her role in Murder, She Wrote, has died “peacefully” in her home, at 96 years old.

Dame Angela Lansbury, well known for her role as Jessica Fletcher in the widely-celebrated TV series, Murder, She Wrote, died “peacefully” at her Los Angeles residence yesterday (October 11), as announced by her family.

“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday,” stated her loved ones, as reported by PEOPLE.

The statement continued, “In addition to her three children, Anthony, Deirdre and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Ian, plus five great grandchildren and her brother, producer Edgar Lansbury. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Peter Shaw. A private family ceremony will be held at a date to be determined.”

The London-hailing actress entertained her devoted fanbase throughout her award-winning career, spanning seven decades, across stage, screen and television. Since the announcement of her passing, stars by the likes of Josh Gad, George Takei, Jeremy O. Harris and Kevin McKidd have made heartwarming tributes to the legendary Angela Lansbury.
