Good Design Australia have just announced their new Women In Design Award, to be chosen as part of their 61st annual Good Design Awards ceremony. The call for submissions will officially open on March 8th – International Women’s Day – and will close on March 28th.
The 2019 Good Design Awards ceremony takes place in Sydney on the 11th of July.
The Good Design Awards will celebrate their inaugural Women In Design prizewinner at a prestigious awards ceremony in Sydney this July.
Speaking on their website, Good Design Australia shared:
“The inaugural Women in Design Award seeks to recognise and celebrate women who have made significant contributions to the industry and hopes to encourage a more diverse and equal representation within the industry and leadership roles in particular within the design and creative industries.”
Submissions are open to all Australian citizens (working in Australia or otherwise) as well as overseas citizens or women living and working in Australia.
Year by year the conversation around proper representation of women in the workplace develops, in all areas but especially in creative industries including music, the arts, and design.
According to Kerning The Gap, currently 70% of graphic design students are women, yet only 11% are creative directors.
