The iconic Birdcage party relaunches at The Bank Hotel this Wednesday night

At last, The Bank Hotel is relaunching its celebrated, queer-focused dance event Birdcage. It’s kicking off Wednesday night at 8pm.

For our wonderful LGBTIQ+ community (and anyone else who’d like to join), there’s a kickass event at Bank Hotel we’d love to share with you. It’s called Birdcage, and it’s all for red hot DJs, queer representation, celebrating with your chosen family, and of course, dancing up a storm.

It’s running from 8pm to 2am tomorrow, featuring some of Sydney’s most unforgettable LGBTIQ+ performers. Here’s a brief rundown for you and your crew.

Firstly, let’s iron out any preconceived notions. This isn’t your typical ‘dim the lights and chuck the aux on’ pub nonsense. This is a jam-packed event with unique performances, MCing, and high-calibre DJ sets.

It’s also an event with valuable history. Last year’s Birdcage with Binch City was quickly lauded as one of Newtown’s wildest nights before lockdown took hold. Now that the majority of Sydney is double-vaxxed, Birdcage has returned, and we’re confident Bank Hotel will have a whopping queue on its hands.

On MCing duties is  Karma Isavich (I see what you did there), and Ripper Gently will also be providing some words of wisdom. Regarding the DJ side of things, expect absolute antics from Dutch Kiss & Atomic Blonde, Forever Tupou, Mowgli May, Nipslip, Rachel Maria Cox, Yemisul, and loads more.

But wait! Here’s the cherry on the cake: all of this is entirely free, as long as you rock up early and nab a spot inside. But wait! Double cherry on the cake: two for $20 vodka Red Bulls will be slung all night.

Find the Facebook event right here, and from all of us at Happy, best of luck.
