Chez says good riddance on searing new pop-rock single ‘LIAR LIAR’

After achieving crowd favourite status during her recent shows, CHEZ has finally released the blistering pop-rock anthem LIAR LIAR.

CHEZ has shared her latest single, a thunderous pop-rock track titled LIAR LIAR.

The single arrives like a sugar rush of pop confection, and sees CHEZ — known offstage as Chezni Watson — offer an optimistic take on the brighter side of a breakup.

LIAR LIAR is carried by a stomping, edgy beat, with harsh tom-tom drums providing the bounce for CHEZ’s nursery rhyme vocal riffs.

The track was written and produced by both CHEZ and Reece Lenzo, and the pair offer a seamless combination of glittery pop sensibilities with a grittier rock flair.

Within the former, CHEZ delivers pristine vocals and catchy cadences, with infectious la-la-la’s destined for earworm status.

In its heavier moments, LIAR LIAR delivers vocoder-tinged riffs and raucous percussion, providing a moment of catharsis on the triumphant chorus.

Elsewhere, CHEZ makes use of spoken word samples and lullaby-like delivery, with the overall effect being what might arise if Ashnikko were to sing a pop-rock version of Jack & Jill.

It’s a tricky line to toe, yet CHEZ pulls off the feat with a self-assuredness that courses through her lyricism.

Here, the singer-songwriter delivers searing lines to a former partner, exposing their betrayal while also revelling in the freedom that comes from a breakup.

“Tell me baby, was it really worth it?” she taunts on a sultry second chorus, “Trust me, no one’s gonna deal with your shit.”

Speaking of the song’s message in a press statement, CHEZ said: “I could have written a sad, emotional song about heartbreak.”

“But I wanted to create something that would make anyone who has experienced this situation and these emotions to take their power back… I’m a catch and you f**ked it up so good riddance and good luck.”

LIAR LIAR comes off the back of a hectic year for CHEZ, who released singles like FRIENDS and ur not invited and supported the Australian tours of Against The Current, PVRIS and Magnolia Park.

CHEZ is said to be sharing a flurry of new releases in the coming months, as well as supporting Taylor Acorn’s Australian tour in March.
