The daughter of the late Chris Cornell, Lily Cornell, has shared that she will be hosting a new mental health podcast.
Following the third anniversary of her father’s death, the new podcast will honour the memory of the legendary Soundgarden frontman.
Lily Cornell, Chris Cornell’s daughter, has announced a new mental health-focused podcast on the third anniversary of her father’s passing.
Titled Mind Wide Open the podcast will be centred around key mental health topics to be discussed in conjunction with a range of experts and professionals in the area. With many people experiencing increased distress in the midst of a global pandemic, the podcast seems particularly relevant and will touch upon Lily and Chris’ own experiences with mental health concerns.
The podcast is specifically aimed at addressing and busting the myths and stereotypes that surround mental health issues, with Cornell herself wanting to expose the stigma that stops people from speaking about their distress. The announcement came with a recent post on her Instagram, an accompanying caption that was both heartfelt and inspiring:
“Losing my dad ripped a hole in my heart, and the grief and trauma that has followed comes with its own set of struggles. Through my experiences, I have become more aware of the stigma that surrounds discussing mental health and grief-related issues.”
