Dave Grohl and Epiphone have just launched a new semi-hollow guitar that blends the rockers musical legacy with the classic ES-335 style
Dave Grohl, the ubiquitous force behind Foo Fighters and countless other musical endeavours, has added another title to his resume: signature artist for Epiphone.
The result is the Dave Grohl DG-335, a semi-hollow based on the classic ES-335 with some Trini Lopez-inspired flourishes.
The guitar features a laminated maple/poplar body, a one-piece mahogany neck with a C profile, and a laurel fretboard with split diamond inlays.
Sonically, the DG-335 treads familiar ground. It’s a versatile semi-hollow that can handle clean tones and overdrive with ease, offering the expected warmth and sustain associated with the body style. The Burstbuckers deliver the expected snarl and snarl, perfectly suited for classic rock and alternative fare.
This isn’t just another ES-335 replica though. Grohl’s signature is proudly displayed on the headstock, and his preferred Gibson USA Burstbucker 2 and 3 pickups deliver the perfect blend of warmth and snarl. These pickups are wired to high-quality CTS pots and Mallory capacitors, guaranteeing a responsive and dynamic playing experience. It also ships with an Epiphone hardshell case, nice!
