77-year-old actor, Tony Dow is still alive, despite a Facebook announcement posted by his representatives yesterday declaring his death.

Actor and director, Tony Dow, known and loved for his work on the iconic TV series, Leave It to Beaver is in fact alive. Just yesterday, his management team made a grand error by publishing a statement on his official Facebook page, declaring the star had died.

They wrote: “It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share with you the passing of our beloved Tony this morning. Tony was a beautiful soul – kind, compassionate, funny and humble.”

Shortly thereafter, both The Washington Post and Variety released an obituary for Tony Dow, based on the Facebook statement. Now, Tony’s representatives and family members have confirmed that reports of his death were actually made in error.

The New York Times later published a report about this managerial mistake, clearing up the shocking confusion.

Just a few hours ago, Tony Dow’s management team posted an updated statement to the actor’s official Facebook page, adding further context to the situation and error:

“This morning Tony’s wife Lauren, who was very distraught, had notified us that Tony had passed and asked that we notify all his fans. As we are sure you can understand, this has been a very trying time for her. We have since received a call from Tony’s daughter-in-law saying that while Tony is not doing well, he has not yet passed. Tony’s son Christopher and his daughter-in-law Melissa have also been by his side comforting him, and we will keep you posted on any future updates.”
