A few weeks back, Darebin Music Feast announced their incredibly diverse program for 2018. Set to run across eleven days in October, the unique festival will take over the entire City of Darebin in North Melbourne, with a groundbreaking lineup of live music events, panel discussions, film screenings, and more.

A major drawcard for the festival will be Sonic aGender, a program of events spanning three days will explore the relationships between gender, sound and narrative.

If you’re heading to Darebin Music Feast this year, be sure to check out check out Sonic aGender, a program exploring the relationships between gender, sound and narrative.

When the 2018 festival was announced, it was noted that there would be a clear aim to recognise and respond to inequality in the music industry. Sonic aGender tackles these issues head-on, digging into ideas about how female, femme and non-binary indie artists approach their music, what makes them and breaks them, and how broader issues like age, class and ethnicity affect creative practice.

Curated by Janelle Johnstone, the string of events will take place across three days, Friday 19 October-Sunday 21 October. Find out the details below.
