Experimental Sydney label Feral Media are joining forces with Melbourne tastemakers Fallopian Tunes for one night only at FBi social and putting on a shared roster of electronic and weird-wave delights. Both labels work closely with and are run by the artists that they support and publish, resulting overall in energetic, new and wholly unique sounds reaching our ears.
Headliners Bon Chat Bon Rat (who have a new EP Burning Palms in the works) will be exploring a smorgasbord of digital//analogue relationships, the duo creating intricate soundscapes that will move audiences as emotionally as physically. Don’t be put off by the wankery of that sentence, BCBR just make cool electronic tunes for the accustomed earholes. Representing the Fallopian side of things will be TRJAEU (pronunciation unknown) and Nimble Animal, the latter of which we covered on the Spring EP review back in… uhh… Spring.
Joining them will be some new kids on the block – NWA* signees Haunts, who started playing together in 2012 and the experimentally minded Melbourne field-musos Yolke, who are a four piece with an ear for ambiance and restraint. This is a show for the electronic geeks out there and any Sydneysider with an Eno poster in their room would be a fool to miss it. Wait… does anyone have a Brian Eno poster and where did you get it from? Link us below in the comments or on our Facebook.
As always, FBi Social charges $10 at the door – a low low price considering it goes towards supporting bands. Bands don’t start till 8pm, but with the new lockout laws coming to Sydney in April (Not this weekend like the media reported last night), you can start getting used to drinking early with the ground floor happy hour lasting from 5-7pm with $10 cocktails during that time on the rooftop.
