Floodlights to close chapter on ‘Painting Of My Time’ with east coast tour

Still riding high on the success of their latest album, Floodlights will bring their acclaimed sound to shows across the east coast in 2024.

In what’s been billed as the closing chapter of their smash hit latest album Painting of My Time, Floodlights have announced a string of east coast shows across Australia starting next month.

The Melbourne five-piece, whose second album catapulted them to acclaim last year, will perform five shows throughout March and April, kicking off at Queensland’s Imperial Hotel on March 15.

From there, Floodlights will take to The Brightside in Brisbane (March 16), before a show at The Great Club in Sydney the following month (April 11).

The band will wrap up their east coast tour with back-to-back shows in their hometown of Melbourne at The Night Cat on April 18 and 19. Find more event details and ticketing information here

The tour — which will feature as-yet unannounced special guests — bookends the mammoth success of Painting of My Time, after which Floodlights will begin work on the album’s follow-up.

Arriving last April, the band’s sophomore LP was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize, and kickstarted a hectic year spanning 50 headline shows across Australia.

Elsewhere, Floodlights served as the support act for the likes of The Killers, Pavement and Rolling Coastal Fever, and appeared at festivals like Tent Pole, Harvest Rock, Falls Festival and SXSW Austin.

Featuring singles like Lessons Learnt, Painting of My Time arrived to rapturous acclaim, with Happy Mag describing the project as a “soaring evolution into post-punk and art rock.” Painting of My Time was named among Happy’s best albums of 2023.

“It’s important to speak about what you believe in and your worldview of what’s going on around you, Floodlights guitarist and vocalist Louis Parsons told us of his songwriting process in 2020.

“I think it’s important to speak on issues that matter with words of meaning.”
