The FBI has asked Astroworld attendees for pictures and videos from the event to investigate the deaths of 10 people.
A dedicated website has been set up by America’s Federal Bureau of Investigation for people to upload footage from Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival that took place in Houston, last November.
A crowd-control disaster at the event claimed the lives of 10 people, including a nine-year-old child who died in hospital from the injuries they sustained on the day.
The Houston Police Department has already reviewed “countless hours” of footage from the festival, but they don’t have the resources or staff required to thoroughly investigate the evidence.
Former NYPD lieutenant, Dr Darrin Porcher, has expressed his disappointment that a footage-based investigation by the FBI didn’t take place sooner.
“For the life of me, I can’t understand why this wasn’t done immediately,” criticised Porcher. “You’re conducting an investigation with 50,000 people at one location. It’s clear, and it’s apparent, that the Houston Police Department didn’t have the ability to get this done, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Scott, who has been accused of “inciting a riot and violence” that claimed the lives of 10 attendees, said that he is “devastated” over their deaths, but is yet to claim any responsibility for the tragedy.
Lawyer, Alex Hilliard told Rolling Stone, “In the next couple of weeks, there will be a lot of information provided to prosecutors to establish that there was absolute criminal activity which occurred in this case.”
Scott is facing several lawsuits following the event, along with festival promoter Live Nation, US rapper Drake, who also performed at the event and multiple security vendors that were in charge of controlling the crowd.
