Madonna’s first four studio albums are returning to vinyl

Rhino Records have announced that Madonna’s first four studio albums – three conventional albums and one soundtrack – will be returning to vinyl as part of a re-issue project.

The cultural icon’s first albums Madonna, Like A Virgin, True Blue and Who’s That Girl: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will all be released as crystal clear vinyl pressings on November 8 this year.

Madonna’s iconic first four albums will be returning to vinyl in limited edition clear pressings, available on November 8.

Madonna’s self-titled album released in 1983 has been certified five times platinum and with over 10 million copies sold around the world, it carries some sheer gold tracks including Holiday and Lucky Star.

Solidifying her status as the queen of pop, her follow-up album Like A Virgin was released a year later, produced by all-round disco legend Nile Rogers. This record topped the US album charts and its title track became her first number one single, selling her over 21 million copies worldwide.

Madonna co-wrote and co-produced True Blue in 1986, which lead her to topping charts in 28 countries including the US. After selling 28 million copies globally, it became one of the best selling albums in music history with singles such as Papa Don’t Preach and Live To Tell.

The final album of the re-issue series is a soundtrack for the film Who’s That Girl, in which Madonna starred and recorded four songs. Released in 1987, the soundtrack sold over six million international copies and Causing a Commotion earned a spot on top of the charts.

Madonna will be playing a lengthy residency at the historic Palladium Theatre in London in 2020, following the release of her acclaimed 14th album Madame X which dropped this year.

Each record will be available for purchase via Rhino Records’ online store, with pricing starting at £18.99 (around $30 AUD).
