Mr Black Analog Chorus/Vibrato Deluxe: vintage tone with modern functionality

Mr Black brings modern functionality to a classic vintage circuit with the Analog Chorus/Vibrato Deluxe.

Built in Portland, Oregon, Mr Black’s pedal line has so far consisted of a series of mini stompboxes, great additions to any tight pedalboard. Now they’ve released the Analog Chorus/Vibrato Deluxe, an expansion on their existing model.

The pedal harks back to some classic all-analog effects that we know and love. The BBD modulation and hi-fidelity frequency response offers up some lush tones, while the tap-tempo footswitch delivers on control.

On the left, the footswitch toggles the effect being on or bypassed (green being on and red bypassed). The right footswitch allows for tap-tempo control, accessed by tapping twice to set the tempo, and changing the waveform, which can be cycled through by holding the footswitch down for 2 seconds.

The digitally controlled LFO includes four waveforms: Triangle, Square, Sine and Glitch/Random. Digital LFO’s have been around for a long time in the synth world, so it’s great to see this innovation included in a 100% analog signal-path pedal. The Analog Chorus/Vibrato Deluxe also offers a range of controls: wet/dry, shine, width, lag, and rate.
