Surfaces unleash breathtaking new album ‘Hidden Youth’

Texas pop duo, Surfaces release their bold, transcendent and harmonically-rich sixth record, Hidden Youth.

Chart-topping, Texas-based pop icons, Surfaces have just launched their highly anticipated sixth studio LP, Hidden Youth via 10k Projects / Virgin Music Australia. The spellbinding 14-track collection marks their biggest and boldest project to date.

From the opening track, Into The Desert, we’re instantly transported to sonic heaven by enchanting, harmonic, goosebump-inducing vocals, coupled with a rich, wistful melody on acoustic guitar.

Leading seamlessly into the uplifting Golden Hour, we’re treated to the powerful, evocative vocals of Forrest, who croons poetically throughout the anthemic hook, “If golden hour was a flower, It’d look like you. Solar powered, sweet and sour, and dressed in blue.”

Moving down to track four, get ready to dance your way into the weekend with the fresh and funky, I Can’t Help But Feel. This catchy, feel-good tune is paired with a colourful, energising music video directed by Dan Franco.

Switching up the pace with track six, Rooftops introduces a bold, fiercely addictive beat, perfectly contrasted with Forrest’s tender vocal stylings.  Up next is the fun, vibrant, sun-soaked Rolling Stone – a little pop, a little reggae, a little spring in your step! This beautiful, breezy four-minute hit is perfect for warming up those winter blues!

Following on, our personal album favourite, What’s Been On Your Mind? Possessing all the dreamy, nostalgic vibes of a classic pop ballad, but with Surfaces’ signature twist. If you’re a fan of Alfie Templeman and Dora Jar, we reckon you’ll love this one!

Overall, it’s safe to say we’re pretty enamoured by this record! It’s the fresh, funky, evocative and heartwarming music collection we all needed, just in time for Spring! Formed in 2017 by Forrest and Colin, Surfaces have become a globally-renowned duo in record time.

With Forrest on vocals and production, and Colin on writing and arrangements, their combined musical prowess has led them to accumulate over 14 billion streams across their striking repertoire. Stream their latest offering, Hidden Youth on Spotify below.
