Thandi Phoenix has taken her powerful vocals and honest lyricism and paired it with perfectly curated dance sounds to create an EP which will achieve nothing short of blowing your mind.

Thandi Phoenix has created six songs that meticulously blend pop with electronica and raw, honest storytelling. Opening track Say It showcases an utterly beautiful vocal tone. The gradual build-up then hits hard with a perfect chorus that sweeps you away to the dance floor. By the end of the song, you find yourself belting out the lyrics along with Phoenix.

Cleopatra cannot be described as anything but a banger. While the track’s lyrics are filled with soul, it’s the clapping rhythm of this one which really pulls you in. There is no way you won’t feel like a badass after listening to Cleopatra.

Good Shit demonstrates the depth of Phoenix and her lyrical sensibilities. In this track, Phoenix confronts the negative forces in her life, opening her arms and living to the fullest with a positive mindset. This track shoots out all the good vibes, leaving you smiling and full of positive energy.

Again takes it a few steps back to really show of Phoenix’s vocals, shaking things up with the incorporation of a male voice supplied by the talented Don Caplen. Again explores the challenges of a relationship and why it’s worth taking risks and feeling pain in the name of love. In this soul-filled tune, Phoenix’s angelic vocals are reminiscent of Sydney talent Odette, whisking you away to a far-away place.

Diggin’ kicks things off with a simple piano sound and breezy vocals which gradually transform into the ultimate floor-filling set piece. This track takes you straight to a summer party, and reinforces Phoenix’s ability to burst out hit after hit, all of which are unique and unlike anything else being produced in Sydney’s music scene.

Complete is the perfect way to wrap up the EP, and clearly speaks from the profundities of Phoenix’s soul as she traverses the idea of self-love. This track and the album as a whole screams talent and invites you to listen over and over again.

Thandi Phoenix is not short of recognition, endorsed by international talents like Jhene Aiko, Tinashe, Rudimental and Tinie Tempah. Whatever the setting might be, it seems that Thandi will be blessing us with feel-good performances and music over the coming year, and hopefully for many more years to come.
