What’s in a name? Well, in this case, everything. All you need to know about this band has already been given away by the title. And if you’re the kind who gets kicks from traipsing down the road less traveled then the shocking and stunning will give you your fix of the eccentric. Their music is an epic masterpiece of mesmerizing sensory overload, trippy sounds influenced by rock and drone all well-blended with electronica.
The Wellington based band was formed by friends Jack Hooker and Sam Lovrich-Fitzpatrick back in 2008. With just a sampler, a synth and a drum kit, these two boys are making quite a name for themselves. They’ve wrapped two New Zealand tours and last year they did a three week tour of ‘Straya with Sunken Seas. Their single Danger topped at a number of Indie stations, they’ve released four EPs, and a cassette-only release of live recordings called These Walls Will Shout. Phew.
The Worms Drink Blood from We Will Fight You (2013), starts off with a haunting hook, followed by the heavy, fuzzy synth that’s a trademark of the duo’s sound. From the very start, the dense hypnotic track will suck you in like a black hole, however instead of fragmenting you, this audio carnival will leave your limbs attached… but you’ll feel like you’ve just been gobsmacked by some good ole heathen voodoo.
Right now the boys are busy pushing their latest album.
