Adam Briggs Foundation launch new grant initiative for First Nations artists

The foundation, led by Melbourne rapper Briggs, has announced a new grant to provide assistance to COVID-impacted First Nations artists.

If you’re a First Nations artist and have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, you could be eligible for Barpirdhila, the new initiative offered by the Adam Briggs Foundation.

The foundation will grant up to $10,000 to Indigenous artists, in a push to ensure the world can hear music that offers a new voice or perspective.

Speaking on the new initiative, Briggs said, “This is intended for artists who need that little push to get their project off the ground, or that extra bit of help to bring that project to fruition. A little bit of a hand can mean the difference between the world receiving a new voice and point of view or not.”

The Adam Briggs Foundation will give at least half of the grants to female-identifying artists as they are traditionally underrepresented in the music industry.

Recipients will be able to spend their grant on anything from studio time, production and mastering, to music video and merch production, or even hiring a PR team.

Submissions for Barpirdhila close midnight AEST on August 1, 2022. While the grant recipients will be announced on September 1, 2022.

If you think you are eligible for the grant, head over to the Adam Briggs Foundation’s website to enter.
