Steely Dan keyboardist Jim Beard, known for his acclaimed work with the band and his recent stint on The Eagles’ Long Goodbye tour, has passed away
We’re saddened to share the news of the passing of the incredibly talented musician, Jim Beard, at the age of 63 on March 2nd in New York City. He left us due to complications from a sudden illness.
Jim’s remarkable career touched on various genres, and he was celebrated as a keyboardist, composer, producer, and educator. In 2008, he joined Steely Dan, leaving his mark on the music scene.
His collaborations extended to jazz greats like Wayne Shorter and John McLaughlin, and he recently toured with The Eagles.
Beginning his musical journey in the vibrant city of New York, Jim worked alongside iconic artists such as Pat Metheny and the Brecker Brothers. His compositions not only graced television shows and Hollywood films but also earned him a Grammy for his work with the Brecker Brothers.
Jim Beard’s legacy is one of immense musical contributions and artistic versatility, and he will be dearly missed by fans and colleagues alike.
