Since forming in mid-2017, Wellington, New Zealand-based outfit Lucifer Gunne have carved out a unique space for themselves in the heavy music community. Their music is simultaneously direct and explorative; it’s grounded in alt-punk but reaches far wider.
With the release of their latest single Energenetic, the group continue to build themselves as one of rock music’s most exciting emerging acts. If you’re not already across this band, it’s definitely time you changed that.

Throughout the new single, Lucifer Gunne belt through a searing concoction of punk, alt-rock, and grunge to deliver a sound uniquely their own. With crunching guitar riffs, thunderous percussion, and flailing vocal hooks, Energenetic is a song that well and truly lives up to its name.
As the track builds, so too does a real sense of chaos. Across the song’s four-and-a-half-minute duration, the band navigate myriad sonic territories—they never let the song sit in one place for too long, and the result is a truly dynamic listening experience.
