Marvin Gaye’s classic set, What’s Going On Live, is being released on vinyl

Marvin Gaye‘s legendary 1972 set in which he performed his 1971 album What’s Going On in full, is coming to vinyl for the first time. This was the only set in which he performed the classic album in full.

The vinyl will also include live recordings of his other classics that do not feature in the 1971 album, such as That’s the Way Love Is, You, Right On, and Wholy Holy.

Marvin Gaye’s classic 1972 set in which he performed his entire 1971 album What’s Going On, is being released on vinyl for the first time this October.

The sexiest singer of all time, Marvin Gaye, is given new life in the wonderful modern era of re-issues. Though What’s Going On Live was released on CD in 2001, October will mark its first vinyl release that has been newly mixed and remastered. It will be made available on a double LP and CD, which will also feature rare photos of Gaye performing during the 1972 set and notes by Gaye’s biographer David Ritz.

Earlier this year, Gaye’s 1972 lost album You’re the Man was finally released. Hence, 2019 marks a big year for fans of the great Soul and Motown icon, ensuring that his legacy will live on.

The set was recorded at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center as a celebration for ‘Marvin Gaye day’. What’s Going On Live will be available on October 18th  and is available for preorder here.
