Emerging from Sydney but now based in Los Angeles, The Hots are a fiery hard rock duo calling back to the genre’s giants like Joan Jett or Alice Cooper.
2018 saw the band release their debut EP, a collection of riotous and anthemic hits which has been turning heads ever since. If you’re all about that dive bar, tatted up, big riff rock life, this ain’t a band you should be sleeping on.
It’s time to get around The Hots, an LA-duo bringing explosive, big riffed hard rock back into the contemporary consciousness.
The Hots are made up of lead singer Foxie Kelly and Ronnie Simmons, a guitarist who has played with Rose Tattoo, The Screaming Jets and Richie Ramone. Together their chemistry is nothing but pure ferocity, a fusion of Kelly’s powerhouse vocals and Simmons screaming guitar work.
The Hots EP is a perfect showcase of this union. Featuring lead single Before You, two more originals and a blistering cover of Rose Tattoo’s Nice Boys, it’s a red-blooded release that’s bound to raise the heart rate, start to finish.
The EP was recorded alongside Mark Opitz, a legendary producer and engineer who counts AC/DC, INXS, Divinyls, and Rose Tattoo amongst his comrades. He compounds the Aussie rock steeze The Hots so easily bring to the stage, and the result is an EP which stands amongst the best.
Side-by-side with the EP release came a long-awaited film clip for Before You, now sitting pretty with hundreds of thousands of views online.
Now based in LA, it may be a hot second before this fierce live act returns to Oz. Keep your fingers crossed, but until then, spin The Hots EP above.
