In a tantalizing blend of infectious melodies, rebellious energy, and unabashed lyricism, alt punks Militarie Gun effortlessly intertwine angst and euphoria.
Militarie Gun have shared Will Logic, the third single to be lifted from the band’s forthcoming album, Life Under The Gun.
Showcasing a new side to the Los Angeles quintet, the single features screechy punk guitar sequences and grungy vocals courtesy of bandmate Ian Shelton.
“This is what I thought we sounded like all along,” Militarie Gun vocalist Ian Shelton said of the band’s upcoming debut LP.
Speaking in a press statement of the lyrics on Will Logic, which traverse topics from betrayal to defiance, Shelton said the single documents “the moment of realization that someone is trying to take advantage of you and deciding you won’t allow it to happen.” He continued: “There’s some melancholy and fatigue in there though, ultimately it’s a desire for the world to be trustworthy.”
Will Logic is accompanied by an official music video directed by Will Acuña. The clip follows a superimposed Shelton in various suburban locales, from busy pedestrian crossings to a crowd of morning commuters. Watch the full music video for Will Logic below.
Will Logic follows Do It Faster and Very High as the third preview of Militarie Gun’s upcoming debut album. Set for release on June 23, Life Under The Gun is described as including both aggressive pop music and catchy hardcore, as well as a culmination of the band’s momentum. “This is what I thought we sounded like all along,” Shelton said of the project.
“It’s always felt like a melody-forward band to me, but I think now we’re finally achieving what I was always setting out to do.” Militarie Gun first formed in 2020, when Shelton enlisted remaining bandmates Nick Cogan and William Acuña on guitar, and Vince Nguyen on the drums. Since then, the band have released the project All Roads Lead To The Gun in October of last year.
Life Under The Gun is set for release on June 24. In the meantime, you can listen to Militarie Gun’s latest single Will Logic below.
