Dive into the Whatever Makes You Happy; the dark and sprawling new video from MissMay

When Dandenong Ranges musician MissMay dropped her On The Radio EP earlier this year, we were immediately drawn in by her dark and sprawling soundscapes.

Across the EP’s four track duration, Miss May delivered a series of cleverly constructed indie-folk rock tracks that brimmed with emotive vocal delivery and charmingly understated instrumentation. Now, the Victorian singer-songwriter has shared a new video for her track Whatever Makes You Happy.

On her new video for Whatever Makes You Happy, Dandenong Ranges based artist MissMay navigates various characteristics of different genres to deliver something dark and captivating.

On Whatever Makes You Happy, May dances gracefully through a unique blend of folk and alternative rock to deliver a sound that belongs entirely to herself.

Directed by MissMay’s cousin Vonny, the song’s accompanying high-contrast black and white video sees May meandering through a forest, with the visuals sitting perfectly alongside the track’s expansive sounds.

We chose a freezing cold winter day, walked down the road from where I live and just started filming,” May says of the track.

Vonnie has a natural knack for getting some great shots and although we didn’t really speak too much about what we wanted to do in the video, it came out even better than I had imagined.”
