Yet another Will Smith movie has been delayed

It’s been a month since Will Smith famously slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars and it seems the actor is still facing repercussions.

Since Will Smith publicly assaulted Chris Rock on live TV, he has faced the loss of many jobs with the list of cancelled movies growing longer and he was banned from the Oscars for ten years.

News has emerged that the Apple TV film, Emancipation, starring Smith, which was set to be released later this year, has now been pushed back until at least 2023 after the infamous slap.

The Antoine Fuqua directed film was expected to be Smith’s first release since he assaulted Chris Rock at this year’s Oscars ceremony.

The official date of release has not been confirmed but sources have revealed that it is “the unspoken truth” that Emancipation will not hit TV screens this year.

The delay is just another addition to a list of Smith’s upcoming films that have been pushed back or cancelled, including Fast and Loose and Bad Boys 4.

Apparently, Smith was also set to feature in a National Geographic series called Pole to Pole but development has been delayed.

After all this, Netflix also announced the cancellation of the sequel to the 2017 film Bright, starring Will Smith.

It hasn’t been confirmed as to whether or not the cancellation is related to the infamous slap but it is a little odd for a film that had been in production for three years to get scrapped out of the blue.
