the kooks

The Kooks have long cemented themselves as mainstays in the UK indie-pop scene, and time has done nothing to diminish their excitable energy.

The Kooks are gearing up to hit the road to perform their iconic debut studio album in its entirety, alongside other fan faves, Junk of the Heart and Always Where I Need to Be.

Celebrating 15 years since the release of their timeless multi-platinum ‘Inside In/Inside Out’, a gem of post-punk Britpop, that leads with The Seaside, and continues to move through hit after hit, Ooh La, She Moves in her Own Way, and Naive, and Got No love

In the lead-up to The Kooks tour down under in October, Radi caught up with frontman Luke Pritchard to talk about the new album, the old album, and everything in between.

The band has been soaking up the euphoric post covid vibe, and it is this energy that the band has immersed themselves in for their sixth studio album, 10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark, and has set the tone for their upcoming tour.

For Pritchard it’s all about the vibes. “We want to give people a good time, we are entertainers and it pushes the band forward because it’s a celebration. And enables us to move on to the next thing.”

And it has to be said, because this is what fans can expect, “euphoric, crazy, nostalgic, mad, indie, nightclub fun”.

Over the lockdown, The Kooks had the time to reflect and tap into the independent space required to pick up the right vibes to move forward. Not to mention the fact that a new generation has found their 2006 debut album, which has in part inspired the band to go back out on the road and play it front to back.

With the clear intent to make 10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark to be played live, Pritchard with the band in tow, is planning to bring a crazy dose of euphoria to a stage near you.
