NPR release huge archive of performances, featuring Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, more

NPR have released a huge amount of live performances. Taking place between 2005 and 2017, NPR hosted performances from hundreds of acts live from Washington DC’s 9:30 Club.

This move is in celebration of the 9:30 Club’s 40th anniversary. Each one of the National Public Radio’s performances have been released with each original write-up.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 9:30 Club, NPR have decided to release hundreds of classic performances, spanning from 2005 to 2017.

A lot of the write-ups that accompany the performances are glimpses into the musical landscape at the time. With critics describing now unheard of artists as voices of a generation,” it is a fascinating glimpse into the past.

The very first show in 2005 includes indie rock stalwarts Bright Eyes. Over the next 12 years, we would see the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Death Cab for Cutie, Lucinda Williams, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bon Iver, Best Coast, The Raconteurs, Dinosaur Jr., Wilco, Spoon, The Black Keys, The National, Animal Collective, Bloc Party, Grizzly Bear, James Blake, Sleater Kinney and we haven’t even begun to delve deep into the full scope of artistic talent NPR has to offer.

There are literally hundreds more performances to view, all of which are snippets of the past. Watch all of the performances here and check out the full list of performers by year below.
