A shot by shot recreation of You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) performed by Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon may not be the music video you asked for this week, but it’s the one you probably needed.
Appearing on The Tonight Show to publicise Avengers: Endgame, Rudd and Fallon served up a meticulous recreation of Dead or Alive’s seminal ’80s hit. If Rudd’s new Avengers film is anywhere near as enthralling, you’re in for a real treat.
The video sees Rudd impersonate the late Jim Burns with absolute accuracy and precision: mimicking every hand gesture and head tilt. Meanwhile, Fallon plays the role of a deadpan Steve Coy clad in a curly wig.
Backed by soft purple lighting and ’80s synth, the pair recreate the You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) with all the flamboyant grandeur of the original.
It’s not the first time Paul Rudd and Jimmie Fallon have collaborated on a vintage cover either: last year the pair made a parody video of King of Wishful Thinking by Go West, and in 2016, they took on Styx’s Too Much Time On My Hands.
