Praise the lord: The Pussycat Dolls and Smash Mouth are coming to Australia

The Pussycat Dolls, Smash Mouth, Steps, and more, are coming to Australia for So Pop, and it’s time to dust off your best halter top and low-waisted jeans.

Brace yourself, extreme nostalgia is imminent.

The gods above have just announced that none other than The Pussycat Dolls, Smash Mouth, Steps, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jesse McCartney, and more, will be gracing our shores for one brutally-noughties nostalgia affair.

It was only recently that The Pussycat Dolls caused a cyber seismic shift when they revealed news of their reforming. Now it’s been announced that they will be coming to ‘Oz, thanks to the Australian/New Zealand festival tour, So Pop.

Organised by Frontier Touring and Arena Touring, So Pop promises “the ultimate pop experience.” 2019 was the festival’s inaugural year, and its lineup did not disappoint, with the likes of Aqua, Vengaboys, Blue, B*Witched and more.

Now, returning in April 2020 for its second year, the festival is certainly delivering the goods.

Joining the American girl group royalty will be Smash Mouth, who you could argue are their scientifically perfect counterpart, and whom you might remember from the inimitable Shrek soundtrack.

Alongside these two naughties gods, you will also find the likes of Steps who will forever be remembered for their track 5, 6, 7, 8, bringing to life the unholy union of techno and country, which, in 2001, NME reviewer Peter Robinson described as, “shit of the very highest order.”

And for the first time ever, British pop princess Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be performing in Australia, an event for which NSW police will undoubtedly be present because there is certain to be murder on the dancefloor.

So Pop will take place in April 2020 with five all-ages shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. Frontier members pre-sale tickets go on sale from Wednesday, December 4th, and General public tickets from Monday, 9th November.
