PREMIERE: Ben Tenison make one hell of a first impression on Pennylane, Darling

Debut singles can be hit and miss. Many bands take a while to land on their sound, and subsequently, debut releases generally lack direction. Brisbane-based trio Ben Tenison, however, are not one of these bands.

With the release of their debut track Pennylane, Darling, the band have immediately established their penchant for crafting emotive alt-rock gems. It should go without saying that we’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.

You’ll be hard pressed to come across a debut single as strong as Ben Tenison’s Pennylane, Darling. If you’re not already paying attention to this band, it’s definitely time you started.

Throughout the new track, Ben Tenison stomp through a spirited blend of indie-rock, grunge, and vintage rock n’ roll to deliver a sound uniquely their own. With pulsating drum beats, crunching guitars and soaring vocal hooks, this track will stick in your body for weeks.

Made up of drummer Tenille Fiteni, bassist Harrison Crane, and vocalist/guitarist Ben Wilcox, the band belt out unapologetically honest music that you won’t be able to help but fall in love with.

It’s a song that doesn’t hide its true emotions or intentions. It’s about wanting to escape the ordinary life with someone and not only accepting all their imperfections but loving them for them as well,” the band say of the track.

These are still early days for Ben Tenison, but judging by what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from this Brisbane three-piece.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new track above.
