PREMIERE: Viral Eyes return with Distinctive Colouring, three-minutes of fuzzed-out listening bliss

Sydney-based three-piece Viral Eyes are back with Distinctive Colouring; a fuzzed-out slice of garage-punk that feels simultaneously confident and relaxed

As the band balance scuzzy garage instrumentation with summery vocal hooks, they deliver a track that’s perfect for any listening environment.

On their scuzzy new single Distinctive Colouring, Sydney trio Viral Eyes delve into our concept of time and the effect of drugs on our psyche.

Working with minimal instrumentation – guitar, bass and kit – can be difficult. Often, when bands operate with this kind of setup, their sound can feel empty. Despite this, Viral Eyes have delivered a powerful, ear-worm of a track.

This new single does not falter from start to finish; the kit, bass, and rhythm guitar work in tight unison to drive home the woozy lyrics. The catchy hook “I lost another day” is aided by the song’s simple riffage and driving kick drum, drawing focus to where the song truly shines.

This is the latest in a string of consistently great releases from this Sydney three-piece, and judging by everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes in the near future.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new track above.
