Anne Heche remains in critical condition after devastating car crash

Anne Heche remains in critical condition as police continue to investigate the DUI car crash that destroyed the home she plowed into.

Actor Anne Heche, best known for her roles in Donnie Brasco and Six Days, Seven Nights, and perhaps more infamously for dating Ellen Degeneres, has remained in extremely critical condition after crashing her vehicle into a Los Angeles home on Friday.

Since being admitted to the hospital, Heche has slipped into a coma following the accident. A spokesperson for Heche told CNN in a statement Monday, “She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention. She is currently being treated at the Grossman Burn Center.”

Heche has suffered “severe burns and has a long recovery ahead,” a source previously told CNN. “Her team and her family are still trying to process what led up to the crash.”

CNN has reported that Heche is currently under investigation for a misdemeanor DUI and hit and run, according to LAPD Officer, Annie Hernandez. Officer Hernandez shared the following statement: “We obtained a warrant for a blood draw on the day of the incident. But we are still awaiting those results. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be referred to the LA City Attorney’s office.”

Lynne Mishele was inside her home when the car Heche was driving plowed into the house at a high rate of speed, causing it to catch on fire, and ultimately destroying it. The resident has lost everything. Neighbours have started a GoFundMe for Mishele to help her rebuild all she has lost.
