Four months after the slap heard around the world, Chris Rock has finally set the record straight and apparently, it really did hurt.
In case you have somehow forgotten one of the most significant incidents in pop culture since Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMA’s, Will Smith stormed the stage and slapped the shit out of Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards earlier this year.
Now, months later, Chris Rock has finally broken his silence over Will’s potentially career-ending move.
While headlining shows in New York and New Jersey, Chris told audiences all about getting smacked by Will Smith on live TV.
“Yeah, that sh*t hurt, motherf***er – but I shook that sh*t off and went to work the next day.” Chris said, according to the New York Post.
ET Online also reported that while performing with Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle, Chris said: “Anyone who says ‘words hurt’ has never been punched in the face,”
All three of the fellas were having a good laugh, with Kevin Hart shocking the audience by bringing a live goat on stage and introducing it as Will Smith.

Chris elaborated on the ordeal a little more during another set at PNC Bank Arts Centre in Holmdel, New Jersey where he referred to people being too sensitive.
“I’m not a victim, motherf***er,” US Magazine reported.
“I don’t go to the hospital for a paper cut.”
This wasn’t the first time Chris acknowledged being slapped and yelled at by Will Smith for making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia but it certainly was the most in-depth.
During a show in May, only a few weeks after the slap, Chris told the audience: “I’m OK, if anybody was wondering,”
“I got most of my hearing back.”
He added that he wouldn’t speak about the altercation for some time, and dangled the story like a carrot, saying: “People expect me to talk about the bulls**t. I’m not going to talk about it right now. I’ll get to it eventually – on Netflix,”
I don’t know about you but I want all the goss so let’s cross our fingers that Netflix get that comedy special on the way!
