Five acts you’d be silly to miss at this year’s Groovin the Moo

Fear not, festival lovers. The summer season may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean that festivals are done and dusted for another year. Groovin the Moo, Australia’s biggest and most exciting string of regional festivals, is right around the corner!

If you were a fan of this year’s Hottest 100, this is a festival that’s definitely not to be missed. While some of the biggest names in modern pop music – Billie Eilish, A$AP TWELVYY and Hilltop Hoods just to name a few – will be making an appearance, the whole damn lineup is drool-worthy.

If you’re heading into this year’s Groovin the Moo ill-prepared and confused by the calibre of the lineup, don’t stress too much. We’ve carefully prepared a list of acts you can’t afford to miss.

Haiku Hands

Multidisciplinary art-pop trio Haiku Hands have established their presence as one of the most hyped up-and-coming acts coming out of Australia. Their performances are fluid and exhilarating; they’re outrageously flamboyant and powerfully assertive.

Haiku Hands’ music combines the best parts of club and art-pop music in an incredibly tongue-in-cheek fashion; they’re not an act not to be missed at this year’s Groovin the Moo.

Angie McMahon

Australian indie songstress Angie McMahon has wowed audiences the world over with her quick ascent into the limelight. Her vocal prowess takes centre stage in her music; her powerful voice matches her bold and moving lyricism.

Angie McMahon paid a visit to Enmore Audio last year to record a raw and captivating version of her unreleased tune StandoutCheck that out below, and if it makes your ears smile, don’t miss her set at Groovin the Moo.

Spinderella

One-third of seminal ’90s R&B trio Salt ‘N’ Pepa, Spinderella is the nom-de-plume of American DJ, rapper, producer and actress Deidra Muriel Roper. Best known for hits Push It, Shoop, Let’s Talk About Sex and Whatta Man, we’re excited to see what Spinderella’s solo set has to offer.

We’re almost certain that it’ll be one of the highlights of the entire festival.

The boundary-pushing sounds of Danish sensation  have helped the artist assert herself as one of the biggest names in pop music in recent history. She’s collaborated with some of the most important figures in contemporary music – Diplo, Charlie XCX, Major Lazer to name a few – and continues to rack up record-breaking figures on streaming services.

Her song Lean On, on which she collaborated with Major Lazer, is one of the most streamed songs of all time.

Coolio

Grammy-award winning recording artist Coolio is perhaps best known for his time-transcendent hit Gangsta’s Paradise. Coolio broke out onto the international rap scene back in 1995 and hasn’t stopped since.

He has released four studio albums, a culinary web series and a New York Times best-selling cookbook. We can’t wait to see what Coolio will bring to his Groovin the Moo performances this year.
