The Weeknd walks off mid-song at LA stadium

The Weeknd cancels his Los Angeles concert mid-song, later apologising to fans via Twitter for vocal issues.

Devastating 70,000 fans on Saturday night, The Weeknd abruptly ended his concert at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Midway through his performance of Can’t Feel My Face the singer walked off the stage. For a brief moment, the fans were left hanging, until the stark stadium lights came on, leaving the concertgoers in a state of shock. A video captured by an attendee shows The Weeknd returning to the stage and apologizing for his vocal issues and promising the audience a refund, which the crowd responded to with loud booing.

“I’m going to make sure everyone is good, you’ll get your money back, but I’ll do a show real soon for you guys,” the singer promised. “I can’t give you what I want to give you,” he went on to say. Later that night, The Weeknd explained what went down via a Twitter post: My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated, I felt it go and my heart stopped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.”

The next date scheduled for the After Hours Til Dawn tour is September 22 in Toronto. The tour has already been previously twice interrupted due to the COVID pandemic. Fans have taken to Twitter, floored by the sudden cancellation of the show.
