Browse and download this huge archive of radical, independent publications

The second half of the twentieth century saw a huge emergence of independent publications, distributing poetry, art, music writing, photography, and radical politics.

While today’s media landscape can often feel like a complete shit-storm of publications competing for clicks, there are still many independent publications putting out really interesting content.

Sick of today’s main-stream media shit-show? Take a browse through this insane archive of radical, alternative publications, printed from 1951 to 2016.

In this new archive, courtesy of Independent Voices, you can browse and download a huge list of printed alternative publications, released from 1951 to 2016.

Independent Voices describe the archive as “an open access collection of an alternative press… produced by feminists, dissident GIs, campus radicals, Native Americans, anti-war activists, Black Power advocates, Hispanics, LGBT activists, the extreme right-wing press and alternative literary magazines during the latter half of the 20th century.”

Although there are still publications being printed in later years, it’s clear that content was far richer in the sixties and seventies, with a near infinite amount of material being printed.

If this archive proves anything, it’s that there’s always a place for independent publishing in the media landscape.

If you feel like making your way through this absolutely huge archive, you can do so here. It may take you a while though.
