ScoMo slams Four Corners’ report over QAnon conspiracy connections

ScoMo has slammed ABC’s Four Corners segment over claims he was influenced by old family friends with ties to QAnon.

On Monday night Four Corners covered the alt-right QAnon conspiracy, focussing particularly on Tim Stewart, a member of the cult.

The controversial episode also delved into the long-running friendship between QAnon fanatic, Stewart and Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Four Corners reported that Tim Stewart and wife Lynelle were even meant to join the Morrison family on their controversial Hawaii holiday back in 2019.

However, Scomo had to cut his trip short due to the Australian bushfires and flew back on the same day Tim Stewart’s family flew to Hawaii.

Government sources denied the two families planned to holiday together.

The program also discussed a claim where Stewart allegedly texted QAnon supporters to say that he could get Morrison to include the phrase “ritual sex abuse” in a major speech.

ScoMo went on to use the phrase during a formal, national apology to sex abuse victims.

Ahead of the program airing, Scomo criticised the segment and denied supporting or having links to the conspiracy.

“I find it deeply offensive that there would be any suggestion that I would have any involvement or support for such a dangerous organisation…I clearly do not,” ScoMo said.

ScoMo and wife Jenny have been family friends with Stewart and his wife Lynelle since the 1990s.

Jenny previously employed Lynelle at Kirribilli in a taxpayer-funded job, and both women were also bridesmaids at each others’ weddings.

Stewart’s deep involvement with QAnon conspiracies has alienated him from family members, including his estranged sister.

QAnon is an alt-right conspiracy where followers believe unsubstantiated claims that the American government, or any Western nation, is controlled by democratic Satan-worshipping pedophiles.
