Seventeen Fifty Seven – Stomp The Orange EP

Seventeen Fifty Seven

Adelaide rockers Seventeen Fifty Seven have had a busy 2013 so far after joining forces with Sydney Music Australia; launching their debut EP to a near sell-out crowd in April; and gracing many a stage with their lively performances. It appears, however, that this quartet is in no danger of running out of steam; their recent gig at the Jive was described by the AU Review as exciting their audience to,

the verge of combustion – The AU Review

Seventeen Fifty Seven band

The five track EP is an amalgamation of many different influences which have been considered and adapted to create something that belongs entirely to Seventeen Fifty Seven. While this is undoubtedly an early effort from the band the songs show that the band has a great deal of potential so long as they keep moving forward determinedly and maintain a careful distinction between what they are trying to create and their influences.

this is a solid guitar driven rock band with powerful howling lead vocals and spare harmonies. Seventeen Fifty Seven has its own definite style – Music SA

seems to come from different eras and places, even within itself – Drum Media

This EP has the air of songs that would be brilliant to listen to live and hopefully Seventeen Fifty Seven will be able to tour Australia more extensively in the latter part of the year, as it is they have another Adelaide show scheduled for the 29th of June. You can listen to the opening track from the Stomp The Orange EP ‘Colours’ on their Triple J Unearthed page.
