Sex Pistols have the best-selling vinyl single of 2022 so far

The Sex Pistols were together for less than three years, and released just one album, but are still managing to captivate old and new audiences alike.

Initially re-released to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June, God Save The Queen, by the Sex Pistols has gone on to become the best-selling vinyl single of 2022 so far.

The Sex Pistols’ single has taken out the number one spot on the Official Singles Chart, beating Taylor Swift’s The Lakes, Suggs & Paul Weller’s Ooh Do U Fink U R and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds We’re Gonna Get There In The End.

The track originally peaked at number two when it was first released in 1977, during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. With the passing of the Late Queen just over a month ago, the single has skyrocketed, with fans, both old and new, rediscovering the single.

The original 1970s release of  God Save The Queen was pressed at EMI’s 1400 Press, at The Vinyl Factory’s plant in Hayes, which also pressed the Sex Pistols release for 2022. Check out the official Vinyl Singles Chart for 2022 below:
