ShockOne shares new album ‘Organism Algorithm’, announces Australian and NZ tour dates

Australian electronic maestro ShockOne returns with Organism Algorithm, a sprawling exploration of drum and bass

ShockOne has today (February 23) released his new album Organism Algorithm.

The 12-song project, ShockOne’s third overall, serves as a follow-up to the 2019 album A Dark Machine, and serves as an evolution of the electronic artist’s decades-spanning career.

Anchored by ShockOne’s drum and bass signature, Organism Algorithm flits between the hyper granular and extra rhythmic to moments of ethereality and viscerality.

A showcase of ShockOne’s mastery of electronica, the album features a seamless blend of techniques, sounds and styles, and a welcome dose of sweltering anthems.

For extra measure, Organism Algorithm enlists a swathe of starry collaborators in the likes of UK duos Bright Sparks (Ready To Go) and Freaks & Geeks (Higher Rush), as well as New Zealand’s Lee Mvtthews and singer Pauline Herr.

Elsewhere, ShockOne dabbles in cutting-edge production techniques on the brooding yet explosive album opener Alone, while Thinkn Bout coasts on textural percussive lines and an infectious energy.

Grimy undertones abound on Follow Me, before ShockOne brings the rave synth energy on tracks like Say Woah and Hardwired.

“This album is a window into my creativity over the last few years, and a reflection of my state of mind throughout that process,” ShockOne explained in a press statement.

The electronic artist said Organism Algorithm was borne out of his reflections on artificial intelligence, and the idea that “all our thoughts and actions can be reduced to algorithms.”

He continued: “I find it interesting that the more we learn about ourselves, the more blurred the lines become between human intelligence and artificial intelligence, and how we define the two.”

Coinciding with the release, ShockOne has announced a slew of headline tour dates across Australia and New Zealand.
