Shows: Yon Plume Curate Plastic Nightclub

Yon Plume are a collective of super cool artsy people from each of the major cities in Australia as well as token others scattered across North America and Europe who endeavour to nurture young talent in visual art, film and music. Check out their website for exactly what it is they do, because there is some super cool stuff on it. plastic nightclub Tonight (10th Jan), Yon Plume are putting their creative juices and musical tastes to good use, curating a night of electrifying garagey guitar music at the Oxford Art Factory, featuring The Upskirts, Blind Valley, Buzz Kull, Bored Brats and Happy favourites Black Zeros. That’s quite the lineup and we should know – we’re professionals. Early in December last year, The Upskirts launched their We Could Be A Team single at Brighton Up Bar with Blind Valley – a sold out show which I smuggled myself into by accident while trying to reach Brighton Down Bar. No regrets, it was a super sweet show, filled with slow motion stoner blues and fuzzy guitars as far as the eyes could hear (synesthesically, of course). Bored Brats and Black Zeros will be bringing a surf / DIY ethos to the lineup, while the awesomely named Buzz Kull will attempt to summon the ghost of Ian Curtis with their coldwave/post-punk incantations. At $10+bf, you really can’t go wrong, and with a lineup this long you’re bound to find something you dig – heck, knowing the Sydney scene you’ll probably be personally acquainted with half the people playing. Doors open at 8.
