Strictly D.T has today (February 17) released his new album Decial Like Special, accompanying the project with a music video for the song GOATS.
The 22-track album was previewed by the January single Flower, a groove-laden R&B cut which features assists from Perth rapper Alex Ford and vocalist Liona Tatafu. Decimal Like Special also features fellow album highlight GOATS — an exercise in braggadocio which sees Strictly D.T flex the superior status of his entourage. “Stay outta my business,” Strictly D.T raps acrobatically atop a bouncy trap reverb, “spent time penmanship-ing the beat.”
GOATS is accompanied by a music video, co-directed by Strictly D.T and Neversames. The clip follows a lounge room-bound crew as they top up their drinks and decorate some cakes, before pouring in the whip gathering in a studio for a final chorus dance-break. Watch the music video for Strictly D.T’s GOATS below.
The spirit of collaboration evident in the clip extends to Decial Like Special’s broader tracklist, with featured guests including fellow hip-hop names like Mali Jo$E and Johniepee, as well as genre-diverse acts Jimmy Harwood and Melbourne’s Halo Vocal Ensemble. Each track on the album features some form of collaboration, with additional assists from the likes of Cle Morgan (on Drift Away) and Nomad (on Where U From).
The album traces topics from mental health to familial hardships, in an effort “to share real conversations that I believe other people are also having everyday,” Strictly D.T said in a press statement.“Amazing music has been birthed from these conversations,” Strictly D.T added on Instagram.
