Western Sydney is about to host one of the most culturally-rich film festivals we’ve seen in years.
SWANA Film Festival is coming to Western Sydney for the first time and is set to be a powerfully community-led event, with 20 unique films, delicious foods, and a pumping DJ set on its opening night.
With a packed program showcasing work from Iraq, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Armenia, and Syria, the SWANA Film Festival aims to cultivate a community inspired to bring up the next generation of storytellers.
SWANA Film Festival Director Hajer Al-Awsi said, “the Festival aims to connect diasporic audiences to films from the region, and promises to be incredibly inclusive, featuring two LGBTQIA+ films as well as representing over five different languages.”
