Tame Impala has announced the name of their upcoming new album. It’s called The Slow Rush, and it’s coming out in 2020.
The announcement came via a 90-second video posted to the band’s official website, building upon the short teaser loop they uploaded a few days ago.
Tame Impala have shared the name of their fourth studio album, The Slow Rush. Details are still slim, but the record will hit shelves in 2020.
The video mostly shows Kevin Parker in recording mode, knocking back the occasional wine and ciggie while surrounded by a mess of keyboards, tape machines, and other gear. Snippets of the new album can also be heard, and damn they sound sweet.
After releasing two new singles this year, Patience and Borderline, fans have been hanging on every minute update from Parker’s brightest project. Given it’s been over four years since Tame dropped Currents in July 2016, whisperings of a new album have been at the fore for quite some time.
This is the first concrete album news we’ve received. But I seriously doubt it will silence the speculation – how many times do you reckon fans will listen to those tiny snippets?
For now, rejoice that we’ll be receiving a new Tame Impala album next year. The Slow Rush – whatever you are – you can not come sooner.
