Australian cult favourites, The Necks, have announced a set of 2022 tour dates including the gorgeous Sydney Opera House Utzon Room.
2022 feels like a very distant future, but in reality, it’s only a few months away – and with exciting announcements like The Necks Australian tour in January and February, it cannot come soon enough. The award winning instrumental trio will be hitting major cities across the country from January 21 to February 19, 2022.
After the cancellation of the critically acclaimed trio’s VIVID live performance in August, and a long lockdown for all of Sydney, the Sydney Opera House is more than overjoyed to be welcoming The Necks back from February 9-12, 2022. The Necks will also be hitting Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, and Adelaide.
Hailed by Rolling Stone as “One of the most important bands Australia has ever produced,” The Necks are an experimental, transitional clash of instruments which refuse to fit nicely into any one genre.
Formed in 1987, and with 21 studio albums under their belt, they have garnered an elusive cult status as well as critical acclaim. It’s impossible not to become completely transfixed by the mix of avant rock, jazz, and ambient music that is The Necks.
Their 2022 tour will stick true to form as a wild musical experience formed mostly around improvisation; they step out each night not knowing what they’re going to play, creating a symbiotic journey then and there for both themselves and the audience.
