It’s time again for FBi Radio‘s Northern Lights Competition and with it the chance for one Aussie artist to score a slot at Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland, and to record at both Sigur Rós’ own Sundlaugin Studio and Studios 301 in Sydney. Pretty sweet deal if you ask us.
Win the chance to play the Iceland Airwaves Festival, record at Sigur Rós studio and Studios 301 in Sydney with Fbi Radio’s Northern Lights Comp
This will the comp’s 6th year running, offering up the chance of a lifetime to one super lucky Australian artist.
The Northern Lights Comp first kicked off back in 2011 with the support of philanthropist Mitchel Martin-Weber, who was looking to share and showcase the wealth of Australian music to the world.
Since then FBi have hand-picked one artist each year to jet off the Iceland, play the Iceland Airwaves Festival, record in studios and meet tonnes of influential industry professionals. Past winners include The Walking Who, Rainbow Chan, LUCIANBLOMKAMP, Moon Holidays, Lanterns and Oliver Tank as well as FBi’s Music Director, Stephen Goodhew.
Rainbow Chan was particularly enamoured by the experience after winning back in 2011:
“The Northern Lights competition opened several doors for me. I’d been personally interested and engaged with studying Icelandic music and traditions for a while, so performing there and observing its culture firsthand was great. Surrounded by incredible natural landscapes, it was difficult not to feel dwarfed yet inspired by mother nature. I came away from the experience feeling focused and wanting to work harder. As I’ve changed and developed as an artist over the last few years, FBi Radio has been very supportive. And it’s humbling to think that it all started with a shitty demo I made in a wardrobe on Garageband!”
You can enter here. Entries are open to emerging solo artists and bands.
You need to get in by Friday August 5th. Don’t miss out!
