Watch Arctic Monkeys cover The Strokes’ Is This It

I just wanted to be one of The Strokes,” Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner croons on the first track of their new album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

Now, in a new performance at Forest Hills Stadium in New York, New York, the band have taken their admiration of The Strokes a step further, covering their 2001 song Is This It.

I just wanted to be one of the damn Strokes! Arctic Monkeys have covered The Strokes’ 2001 smash hit Is This It at a New York performance.

I remember I used to play that first album in college all the time, when our band was first starting,” Turner told NME back in 2011 regarding the NY band.

Loads of people were into them, so loads of bands coming out sounded like them.

The performance sees Turner give the song his own spin, drawling out each line with his signature croon.

Turner and the gang have also previously covered The Strokes’ Reptilia and Take It Or Leave Itas Pitchfork note.
