Marlin’s Dreaming Performs ‘Outwards Crying’ Live From Happy

PRESENTED BY

New Zealand indie folk rock band Marlin’s Dreaming swung by our new studio, Noise Machines, for a stunning stripped back performance of their song ‘Outwards Crying’ for our NZ Music Month Live From Happy series.

‘Outwards Crying’ comes from their sophomore record ‘Quotidian’, and they gave us a very special version that they created on the spot once they saw our beautiful Kawai piano.

Avid’s support made this Live from Happy session possible, using their Pro Tools Software and Carbon Pre Audio Interfaces.

NZ Music Month runs throughout May and we’re showcasing some of NZ’s best new artists. This year NZ music month is celebrating ‘Community and Collaboration’ this year.

In Australia for a few shows in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, Marlin’s Dreaming graced us with a gentle and graceful performance of ‘Outwards Crying’. Upon seeing our Kawai upright piano, guitarist De Stevens prompted enquired if he could play that instead — to which we very much obliged.

Keep an ear out for their third album ‘Hasten’, that they recorded at ‘Chicks Hotel’ in Koputai (Port Chalmers), Ōtepoti, and we can only hope they will grace our shores again soon — in the meantime, put this live performance on repeat.

Here’s what Semisi from Marlin’s Dreaming had to say about ‘Outwards Crying’ before taking the stage:

“It’s a song from Quotidian an album we released in 2020. It’s about how things keep growing and moving on, but things still feel the same.

Hope you guys enjoy.
