The Poor talk new single ‘Let Me Go’, favourite tattoos and saving the world

Poor

Darwin-born rock band, The Poor launch a new era of their music with a trio of singles, ahead of their upcoming album and European tour.

Releasing three stellar tracks this year alone, the band’s 2022 hits have marked their first musical output in 12 years, repositioning their place among the country’s most revered four-on-the-floor rock outfits. The Poor ushered in this new era with the release of lead singles, Cry Out and Payback’s A Bitch earlier this year, and followed those up last week with a new offering and music video in Let Me Go

All three tunes are lifted from the group’s forthcoming album, High Price Deed, which will be their first studio effort since 2010’s Round 2. Set for release on February 3 of 2023 via Reckless Records, High Price Deed will be supported by a European tour next year, which will enlist bandmates Anthony Skene, Matt Whitby, Gavin Hansen and Daniel Cox, the last of whom made his debut on The Poor’s upcoming record.

Their forthcoming run of shows add to a sizeable list of tours already undertaken throughout their decades-long career. Earlier this year, the band toured with fellow rockers, Rose Tattoo across Europe and the UK, and have elsewhere opened for the likes of  AC/DC, Kiss and Van Halen. In anticipation of High Price Deed and its accompanying tour, we caught up with The Poor vocalist, ‘Skenie’ for a chat about songwriting, musical inspirations, and the end of a 12-year hiatus.
