Hip Hop/RnB Artist Jade Kenji recently visited our studio Noise Machines for a special Live From Happy performance in association with Sydney World Pride 2023 with her soon to be released song Press Play.
We — and you — got a treat to hear Jade Kenji perform her new track with beatmaker Kase Avila before the release. Written in lockdown it’s about leaning into being an introvert and embracing it.
Press Play was Mixed and Recorded by Tim McArtney, Owen Penglis and Radi Safi.
This Live from Happy session was made possible by the generous support of Avid. Avid is a technology and multimedia company who make the industry famous Pro Tools Software, Sibelius and Audio Interfaces. In this session Happy utilised Pro Tools and Avid Carbon Pre Audio Interfaces.
Special thanks to Applewood — one of our favourite distilleries that uniquely and sustainably craft Australian gin with the rarest flavours never used.
Coming in with long time collaborator, band member — and Happy Mag favourite — Kase Avila, they dove into the track and added some extra flare on the end.
Soon to be released, ‘Press Play’ sees Jade Kenji bring her flavour of old school hip hip to a modern era with soft ear candy vocals with lyrical content that explains that if you are an introvert be proud, wear it, own it, and don’t worry if you don’t want to party.
Here’s what Jade Kenji had to say about ‘Press Play’ before taking the stage:
“I wrote this during lockdown, and as an introvert, I loved it. I Like to stay home, read books, play games and not really see people.
I wrote this to get introverts to embrace that side of them. Don’t feel bad that you are shy or that you might not like to go out to parties. Just be confident with who you are.”
